A resume is simply a summary of your worker qualities an employer might be looking for. Even your most basic resume should have the following parts; contact information, education history, previous employment/qualitifications, activities/interests and references.
Contact Information
To being with, you're going to want towrite your name at the top, first and last. Make it something title-looking, but make sure you don't go crazy with the font.
While yet, colors and sizes and font types will look pretty, it doesn't exactly look professional.
Don't forget to write your address and phone numbers, maybe even your email address.
Education History
List your schools (no all the way back to preschool is not necessary or recommended- back as far as high school should suffice). I personally think writing
them from most recent to least recent the best order. Write information about
your time at the school, including graduation date (haven't graduated yet? Write "Graduating Month, Year"), clubs you were in (include when and any positions held), and any certifications, honors,
degrees, ect you obtained.
Work Experience
Self-explainatory. Again, start by listing your previous jobs. Again, I find writing most recent to least recent the best idea here. You don't have to write
all your previous employment (usually that's required in your actual application anyway)- so leave out the two weeks you were at McDonalds. Definitely include
the jobs that show your experience in the job you're applying for or that would really show your work ethic. Then, write the dates you worked there (still
employed there? "Month Year- present"), as well as the location ("City, State" is fine). Write your job position and the responsibilites you had.
Activities
This is the great place to put volunteer work or other clubs you were involved in outside of school/work, when you were involved, and what you did. If you've got
nada, just leave it out.
Interests
Again optional, but to give your employer an idea of your personality, include your interests. Crafts? Webdesign? Whatever. Just don't include hardcore
partying or anything illegal- but of course, you don't anyway so that's no problem =].
References
This can be taken care of with a simply "References available upon request" at the bottom, or you can go ahead and name your references/their contact info/their
relationship to you/ect.
Finish!
Check it for typos, make sure it looks nice, add/delete things, and print. Save an extra copy for yourself too!
For Example, my resume would look something like this:

Good luck!!
