HISTORY.
pre heart-star.net:
started making webpages in 4th grade on expage.com, called "smilys" (it has since been deleted, as expage went through a time that it randomly deleted some pages) and that was very exciting for my 9 year old self. that lasted a while. at some point i moved to... angelfire? geocities? i don't even remember anymore. anyway, i moved around hosts and webpage names and even long periods of not doing anything at all online. at some point in 10th grade? towads the end anyway, i missed it and created dorkella[.com]. hosted it at dreamhost for over $100. for a year. and that was fun. but then senior year can along and i was going to be spending 2 months MIA and then senior year and working and all that, so i just didn't renew it. i saved a bunch of the better files though, which you'll find laying around heart-star (think brushes, fonts, cursors, whathaveyou).

heart-star.net:
finished senior year and all that jazz. life settled down and i decided i missed webpaging so after lurking around a few i remembered, i looked around for a cheaper host, which i found at godaddy[.com]. bought the domain and hosting plan (only for 2 months until i see how i like it) in early december '07. opened jan 25, 2008.

why "heart-star.net"?
I chose .net because i've already had a .com, and wasn't crazy about it. to me, .com seems too professional, like a company seeking your business. and .org feels like a volunteer group or charity. and i love .net. heart-star comes from... i'm not sure. i wanted something with "star" or something celestial there, and i also love hearts/love/happy things. so i fidled around and the things i liked were taken, and then i figured maybe to combine them. i liked it, it wasn't taken, so, here i am.
